“Hello Mister Police Officer”
The exhibition about street art in Tartu “Hello Mister Police Officer” will open in Tallinn on May 10. For the past two years the show has toured outside of Estonia - in Berlin, Germany and Aberdeen, Scotland. You can see the artworks by KAIRO, Edward von Lõngus, Stina Leek, GUTFACE, and other Tartu street artists.
Though street art is often thought of in connection with big cities such as Berlin, New York, or London, the exhibition is about the street art scene of Tartu, a small town. The exhibition tells a story about small-town Robin Hoods who bring art to the streets in order to make their environment more meaningful and personal. It’s also about the attitude of bringing the desired change yourself instead of waiting for someone else to do it for you. The show looks at how street artists play with the laws through the prism of humour.
The exhibition is part of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 programme and is organised by Stencibility Street Art Festival.
